Yarm 1914

Died of wounds 10 Apr 1918 aged 21. Percy (as he was familiarly known) was the youngest son of William Henry and Rose Abbey Page of the George and Dragon Hotel, Yarm and before enlisting at the start of the war had been employed in the local Cooperative store. During his military service he had been wounded and also operated on for appendicitis. He had enlisted in Northallerton while living in Yarm. On the Page family, two sons in New Zealand and three from Yarm joined up while a daughter took up nursing in a Newcastle hospital. La Kreule Mil Cem, Hazebrouck, France

Yarm1914 believe that Percy was born in North Ormesby in 1897. His father Henry William Page ran the Fleece in Yarm High Street in 1911. His mother Rose Abbey came from Brussels in Belgium and had given birth to 10 children. Percy had a younger sister, two older sisters and two other older brothers living in the seven roomed Fleece Inn with a boarder William Henry Wilson who died of pneumonia 3 Jun 1918 aged 40.
